Kyoto Sencha (chaba)

Maiko no Cha Kyoto Sencha is a Japanese green tea produced by Maiko no Cha Honpo, a house specializing in Japanese tea located in Kyotanabe, in the Kyoto prefecture. For several decades, the house has perpetuated an expertise dedicated to the selection and preparation of quality Japanese green teas.

Sencha is one of the main varieties of green tea in Japan. It is characterized by a fresh vegetal scent and a slight astringency that contribute to its balance on the palate. It is enjoyed hot, on a daily basis, to accompany a meal or to enjoy a tea break.

The expertise of Maiko no Cha

Based on the "Tea Only" philosophy, Maiko no Cha pays particular attention to the quality of the tea and the expression of its aromas. Since 1970, the house has carried a name linked to the culture and history of the Kyoto region.

Its expertise relies in particular on the experience of its tea masters and a careful selection of leaves, in order to highlight the specific characteristics of each variety of Japanese tea.

How to prepare Japanese sencha?

To appreciate the aromas of sencha, it is recommended to use hot water cooled to about 70°C. To prepare about four small cups, use 8 to 10 g of tea leaves for 250 ml of water.

Pour the water over the leaves in a teapot and let it steep for about 1 minute. Then distribute the tea gradually between the cups, pouring a little at a time into each one, in order to obtain a homogeneous infusion.

Sencha generally allows for up to 3 infusions. For subsequent ones, reduce the steeping time by about 30 seconds to adapt the extraction of aromas.

A Japanese green tea to enjoy daily

Maiko no Cha Kyoto Sencha allows you to discover an essential variety of Japanese tea. Its simple preparation and fresh vegetal notes make it a tea suitable for daily breaks as well as for accompanying Japanese meals.
